Regional focus: Pacific Northwest, writing about walk-up apartments, new-build studios, condos with one good window, and backyard ADUs.

Claire Lawson is the voice behind Decostead's Small Spaces coverage. Her area of focus is the compact homes of the Pacific Northwest: older walk-up apartments, new-build studios, condos with one good window, and backyard ADUs. She writes about the problems that appear when square footage is tight and daylight is short for half the year, such as where the coats go, how a sofa and a desk share one wall, and how to keep a studio from feeling like one big bedroom. Claire's angle is measurement before shopping. Her guides favor renter-safe fixes and furniture that earns its footprint.
