Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2, 2026

This page explains what information Decostead (decostead.com) collects when you visit, how it is used, which partners help us measure and advertise, and the choices you have. It also contains our cookie notice, affiliate disclosure, terms of use and disclaimer, so all the legal information about the site sits in one place.

If you have a question about this policy, write to contact@decostead.com.

1. Who we are

Decostead is a home decor publication. It publishes guides on decorating, layouts, styles, trends and home products. In this policy, "Decostead", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the site and its owner. "You" refers to anyone who visits the site.

2. Information we collect

We do not ask you to create an account, and the site has no comment section. Most of the information we receive is collected automatically when your browser loads our pages.

Information collected automatically. Your browser and device send standard technical information, which our tools and partners may record:

  • IP address and an approximate location derived from it (city or region, not your street address)
  • browser type, device type, operating system and screen size
  • pages you view, how long you stay, the page that sent you to us and the links you click
  • dates and times of visits
  • cookie identifiers, pixel identifiers and similar online identifiers

Information you give us. If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you and to keep a record of the conversation.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive information such as health data, financial account numbers or government ID numbers, and we ask you not to send it to us.

3. How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • run the site, keep it secure and fix technical problems
  • understand which articles are read and improve our content
  • measure how visitors arrive from search engines, social media and ads
  • show and measure advertising, including ads you may see on other websites and apps after visiting Decostead (often called remarketing or retargeting)
  • measure conversions, which means checking whether a visit that started from an ad led to an action on our site
  • answer emails and correction requests
  • comply with the law and protect our rights

4. Analytics, advertising and tracking partners

We use Google Tag Manager to manage the measurement and advertising tags on the site. Through it, the site may load tools from the partners below. Each partner may set its own cookies or use similar technologies, and each processes information under its own privacy policy.

Google. We may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, and Google Ads to show ads, measure conversions and build remarketing audiences. Google may combine this with other information it holds about you. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and control ad personalization at myadcenter.google.com. You can stop Google Analytics from collecting your data with the browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Meta (Facebook and Instagram). We may use the Meta Pixel and related Meta Business Tools to measure how ads on Facebook and Instagram perform and to show our ads to people who visited Decostead. Meta may receive your IP address, browser information, the pages you view and actions you take on the site, and may match them to a Meta account. You can manage this in your Facebook settings under Ad preferences, and Meta's data policy is at facebook.com/privacy/policy.

Other advertising and measurement platforms. We may also use tags from other platforms to run and measure ad campaigns, such as Microsoft (Microsoft Advertising and Microsoft Clarity), TikTok, Pinterest or content recommendation networks. They work in a similar way: they record visits and actions on our pages, measure ad results and may show you our ads elsewhere. When a campaign on a platform ends, its tags may be removed.

We do not sell your information for money. However, allowing advertising partners to collect information on our site for targeted advertising can count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information under some US state laws. Section 7 explains how to opt out.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. Pixels, tags and local storage work in a similar way. We and our partners use them for:

  • Essential purposes: basic site functions and security.
  • Analytics: counting visits and understanding how pages are used.
  • Advertising: measuring ads, limiting how often you see an ad, building audiences and showing ads on other sites.

How to control cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work. You can also opt out of interest-based ads from many companies at once:

Some browsers let you send a Global Privacy Control signal. You can turn it on in your browser settings, and you can also use the opt-out tools above and in Section 4, which work whether or not a site reads the signal.

Opting out does not stop ads. It means the ads you see will be less tailored to you.

6. How long we keep information

Information sent to our partners is kept according to their own retention settings and policies. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to answer you and keep a record, and are then deleted. We review this regularly.

7. Your privacy rights

United States. Depending on your state, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon and others with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to:

  • know what personal information we collect and how we use it
  • ask for a copy of your personal information
  • ask us to correct or delete it
  • opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information and of targeted advertising
  • not be treated differently for using these rights

To opt out of targeted advertising, use the tools in Section 5 and the platform settings in Section 4. To make any other request, email contact@decostead.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line and tell us which right you want to use. We may need to confirm your request before acting on it. An authorized agent may make a request on your behalf if they can show they are allowed to. If we refuse a request, you can reply to appeal the decision.

California. In the last 12 months, the categories of personal information collected through the site were identifiers (such as IP address and cookie IDs), internet activity (pages viewed and interactions) and approximate geolocation. They came from your browser and device, and were used for the purposes in Section 3. They were disclosed to the analytics and advertising partners in Section 4. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. If you visit from these regions, you have the right to access, correct, delete or move your data, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent at any time. We rely on your consent for analytics and advertising cookies, and on our legitimate interest in running a secure site for essential processing. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

8. Children

Decostead is written for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International transfers and security

Our hosting and our partners may process information in the United States and other countries. We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards, but no website or transmission over the internet is completely secure.

10. Affiliate disclosure

Decostead does not use affiliate links today. If we add them, some articles may contain links that earn us a small commission when you buy something, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships never decide what we recommend: product guides follow the method described on our About page, and we do not claim to have tested a product unless we actually did. Articles that contain affiliate links say so near the first link.

11. Terms of use

By using Decostead, you agree to these terms:

  • Content. All text, images and design on the site belong to Decostead unless stated otherwise. You may share links and short quotes with credit and a link back. You may not copy or republish whole articles or images without written permission.
  • Use of the site. Do not use the site for anything unlawful, or try to disrupt it, scrape it at scale or access it in ways it was not designed for.
  • Links to other sites. We are not responsible for the content, products or privacy practices of websites we link to.
  • Changes. We may update the site, these terms and this policy at any time. The date at the top shows the latest version.
  • Liability. The site is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, Decostead is not liable for losses arising from the use of the site or its content.

12. Disclaimer

The content on Decostead is general information about home decor. It is not professional advice for your specific home.

  • Measurements, clearances and prices in our articles are guides. Always measure your own space and check product details before buying.
  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions for every product, including weight limits, anchoring and care labels.
  • Anchor tall furniture and heavy mirrors to the wall, and keep candles away from fabric, paper and dried plants.
  • Electrical, gas, structural and plumbing work should be done by a licensed professional. Renters should check their lease and ask their landlord before making changes.

13. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be noted on the site.
